This piece is a part of the series “The Space Between”, in which I am trying to use animal symbolism to convey basic concepts that are not seen with the naked eye. This piece represents dreams or the dreamworld, a place where there is beauty, but perhaps not clarity and certainty. There are other entities that come and go in your dreamworld, but they are often abstract and you’re not sure where they came from or where they are going. They are familiar, but they are not close to you. They know you are there, but they often do not engage with you in any way. It is a place that we feel is familiar, but we can’t remember when we have ever been there. We all know of the dreamworld, but it is not something that can be defined easily and there is no way to know any dreamworld except your own, because it’s all within each person’s individual consciousness. Some cultures do believe that one can enter another’s dreams, whether in spirit travel or in death, but how can we ever prove that is true? The one thing we do know is that there are countless worlds in the dreams of humans, each one completely unique, personal, and very real in its own way.
