This is a painting from a photo my mother sent me in the winter of 2018, of my horse eating hay in the snow at twilight. She often sends me photos of my horse in the different seasons, and something about him with his thick winter coat eating in the quiet landscape of winter brings such peace and quiet to my heart, I can remember being at home and watching the horses at twilight in the snow. It muffles all the sound, so that the whole world seems to be falling asleep, and the light slowly fades away into a silent night. It is one of my favorite times of year, to enjoy the quietness as nature rests.
