上个世纪80年代，在中国南部的经济特区设立后，居住在内陆的许多人南下来挣钱。南边经济特区的工资几乎是内陆的十倍。改革开放的大潮催生着人们的步伐。作者的父母也是其中的一员。作者的父母没有文化基础，连普通话都不会说。在这种环境下，作者的父母走出农村且在大城市扎根。作者现在也是和当时的他们一样步入了就业阶段。这让作者回望起那段父母的过往和那段父母的激进又艰难的历史。这幅画是作者的所感所想的表达。作者深深的敬佩着她的父母，同时也是为记下时代给她父母的烙印。作者的父母的事迹是中国农村人到南方务工的缩影。
这幅画是在2019年用丙烯颜料画出来的。虽然作者花费了很多心思在创作上但是篇幅不大，画的尺寸是：宽17cm，长22.5cm。这幅画是用抽象的手法表现的。作者用几何把画面切割，有意的将物体抽象化来表现脆弱感。作者在处理边缘线上，借鉴了后印象派塞尚的画法。但是画面的颜色没有十分鲜艳，而是处理成脏脏的感觉。作者在刻画人物形象是向象征性的。画中的人都只露出了半边的脸，而且表情严肃。这种做法给画面增加了一种仪式感。既有赞扬的意味也有讽刺的感觉。有点像Grant Wood的作品。作者在处理道路部分借鉴了立体主义的的画法，打破原来的形状增加冲击力。画面中混乱的线条就像被打碎的镜子显现的形状一样。这些线条给整幅画增加紧张感。
作品刻画了一个严厉的母亲和朴实的父亲站在大山通往城镇的小路上的画面。他们目视前方，眼中好像有了坚定的梦想。他们的影子紧紧依靠，暗示他们相互协助的走上这条路。画面整体是抽象的，用尖锐的形状进行组织。暗示这是一条很难走完的路。作者敏感的且客观的看待那个时代。画中的这条路也深深的影响着一代人。
After the establishment of a special economic zone in southern China in the 1980s, many people living inland came down to these places to make money. The south's special economic zone pays almost ten times as much as the inland. The tide of reform and opening-up spawned people's pace. The author's parents are among them. The author's parents have no cultural foundation and can't even speak Mandarin. In this environment, the author's parents left the countryside and rooted in the big city. The author is now entering the same stage of employment as they were then. This leads the author to look back at his parents' past and their radical and difficulty history. The painting is an expression of the author's feelings and thoughts. The author deeply admired her parents, but also to write down the times to her parents. The story of the author's parents is a microcosm of rural Chinese working in the south.
The picture was painted with acrylic paint in 2019. Although the author has spent a lot of time on creation, the painting doesn’t take much space. The size of the painting is: 17cm wide, 22.5cm long.
