In some of the paintings coming out of lately, such as this one, there seems to be a new comfort with and curiosity about color combinations that have a strong sense of weight. Augmenting the textures of the surface furthers this sense. Perhaps it is a step towards recognizing the dark nature that often lives alongside the light in the human spirit.
