This belongs to my Mind Map series. I feel they are influenced by childhood memories - and a love of precious objects.

I recall years ago going to an exhibition of Mayan art and falling in love with the precious small objects - objects that you would want to hold in your hand and if you could, maybe carry around with you. I wanted these works to arouse a similar kind of emotion.

So these are painted on wood panels which makes it feel to me more like an object, not just a practical painting surface. And the various inhabitants are like little treasures, each special in their own way - but the specialness is also defined by their relationships to the other objects in their world.

Some of the Mind Map paintings tend toward minimalism, but this one seemed to hold together even with a bit of busyness.

Of course these are some of my own thoughts about the painting. I expect others will have their own ideas and feelings about them, which is just as it should be.
